ESCAPE THE GAZZYBOY VIRUS!!!

Why Users Hate It:
EnJoy: I am having trouble doing ANYTHING with the test tube and tube with content. Nothing combines!
treeld: ok so i clicked on the flasks and it said i got a pistol and holster but they are green liquids in my inventory ..another gazzy bug??
treeld: anybody do anything after pouring liquids into 2 different water bottles in blue room...i came out of the blue room and the escape door is open but can't go out lol! this is why i stopped playing gazzy boy!
MaryD: I was sure those cylinders beside the door were significant and we were going to make a bomb... can't tell you how many times I tried to cellotape the chemical bottles to them. Another illogical end...
EnJoy: This is so BAD.. you do something once and it doesn't work, but if you do it repeatedly it works. I must have tried 10 times to put the stupid bottles next to the laptop and it didn't work. Now it did! I may have to join Sneaksnake in the boycott
Rambler: This game is bugged to hell. I'll come back when I've got more time and patience.
crromig: i got my funnel into bottle 2 before i got the testtubes full of pistol and or whatever. and i couldn't get the funnel out so i quit. this is one of the reasons i quit playing gazzyboy last time. its either pixel hunting or broken games. these people need to get better at this. i am tired of them.

WALKTHROUGH
(thanks @Virginia Sketchers)

*sigh* I guess someone has to write a walkthrough for the poor souls that will play the game after us.

WALKTHROUGH

Door view
Take the screwdriver (red thing at the bottom left of the screen)

Go left
Open right cupboard (both sides) and get everything in it (chemical, cellotape, funnel)
Open left cupboard. Right: take bottle (test tube with content). Left: use chemical on the yellow flask, then use funnel, then use pink test tube. The flask should be blue now. Take it and zoom out.
Click on the test-tube array at the middle of the screen to zoom in.
Use blue flask on the tube with the purple lid. Click at each bottle on the right. You get two yellow bottles (pistol, gun holster)
Use screwdriver on the light switch at the left. Take wire.

Go left and enter the computer room.
Get wire from bottom-right shelf.
Zoom in at the right of the PC and click on the thing that is on it. It falls down. Zoom out.
Get the floppy disk and the laptop timer from the floor (right of the desk)
Top-right shelf: zoom on the bottle. Use funnel, then pistol, then screwdriver. Take it.
Bottom-left shelf: zoom on the bottle. Use funnel, then gun holster, then screwdriver. Take it.
Middle: zoom on the CPU (big white thing) and put the floppy disk in.
Zoom in the grey controller at the right of the PC screen. Click on it twice and get the battery.

Let's put everything together.
Use the right bottle on the left one. Use wire on them. Use laptop timer. Use battery. Use cellotape.

Zoom in the laptop. Now this is tricky: put the device at the left of the laptop-it appears on its right(!)

Use the laptop cable on the device and go back at the door.

(P. S. This is the escape where we all learned of Edgar's secret yellow thong pics. View the comments on the EG24 site for all the juicy bits.)

Why I Personally Hate Gazzyboy

How do I hate Gazzy? Let me count the ways!

1. BUGS, BUGS, and more BUGS. Every Gazzyboy game has to have a bug. This is the Gazzyboy First Law. No matter how carefully you play, you will always a find a bug. Either something will mysteriously and for no reason vanish from your inventory right when you need it the most, or it won't ever go into your inventory in the first place. If an escape requires you to smash four skulls on a wall in order to lower the "beam cage" holding a samurai warrior captive, you can either smash the skulls two at a time from one view, which after having done so, the "beam cage" will never lower, or (and there's no clue as to why), zoom in to the closest view and smash them one at a time, which will lower the "beam cage." Why even allow the skulls to be smashed on the next-to-closest view two at a time if doing so will only cause you to have to start the game over from the beginning, especially when this is the next-to-last step? ARRRUGH!

2. BAD NAVIGATION. This has been especially true in 2010. The elevator in the Lighthouse Escape was probably the WORST piece of bad navigation I've ever seen in a game. Why is the elevator so hard to use when it's the core of playing the game? Why do you have to press the elevator button to open the door, click to go inside, turn around, click the button to close the door, click the button for the floor you want to go to, then wait as the elevator goes DOWN (even if you're going up) to get to the floors in the lighthouse? Why not just click the elevator, and once inside, click the floor, and presto! you're there. Is that so hard to code? GRRR! (Update: It seems that Stone Age Games is now in a competition with Gazzyboy to claim the title of Worst Navigation in a Game.)

3. POORLY-RENDERED GRAPHICS. I can understand the complexities of game design, but there is no excuse for bad graphics. Why are there always wires and bits of string that are only one pixel in width? You have to click exactly on the pixel to pick up a big coil of rope, even if you're clicking inside the apparent boundary of the coil of rope. Is Gazzy getting paid per click (probably), and is this why items are so notoriously difficult to find and pick up (again, probably). Gazzy's animations have been progressively getting slower and slower. The Office Escape was not even worth playing because it took, literally, a minute and a half for one wall to slide back.

4. USE OF CHRISTIAN HYMNS AS BACKGROUND MUSIC. This, though by no means the worst of Gazzy offenses, drives me crazy. Having grown up in the church, it drives me bonkers trying to play a game while "All to Jesus I surrender, all to Him I freely give" keeps looping through my head. Is there some shortage of non-religious midi files, or does Gazzy simply not know that a lot of the songs it uses are church trax?

5. ILLOGICAL ELEMENTS. The Cowboy Escape provides yet another example of why I hate Gazzy. In the game, you need to smash a lampshade to find a candle that you'll later combine with a piece of paper and the contents of a bomb to make a "key" to open a lock that gives you... wait for it... a key. In your inventory, you have a hammer and a wine bottle among other things. Guess what you have to use to smash the lampshade? You guessed it: the wine bottle. Now, why a wine bottle is better for smashing lampshades than a perfectly good hammer is beyond me. Apparently I'm not smart enough to instinctively know that lampshades must always be smashed using the one item in your inventory you'd never actually use in real life. I refer to this as Gazzyboy's Second Law, which states: The most illogical item to use in any given situation is always the correct item. Why this is so remains one of the great mysteries of the Gazzyboy faith.

6. ENGRISH (a.k.a. CHINGLISH). This is a problem not limited to Gazzyboy, but Gazzyboy seems to make the most infuriating flubs with it. When other games inform you that "especially there is no doubtful point," it's kinda quaint and cute. However, when Gazzy does it, it's always patronizing and infuriating. For example, at the end of the game, once you finally manage to escape, Gazzy will say "Hey buddy (or pal or, worst of all, guy)! You used your imagination to make wise use of objects in order to make perfect escape." Thanks for congratulating me on escaping your horribly unplayable game, Hop-Sing, but I'm not your buddy or your pal. (And if I'm a girl, I'm certainly not a guy.)

7. *related to 6, above* WRONG NAMES FOR STUFF. The example that sticks out in my mind at the moment is in the Everest Escape. You get a whole bunch of items from a backpack, and one item in particular is labeled "leg warmers." It is not, in fact, leg warmers; it's a camp stove used for cooking. How a camp stove came to be labeled as leg warmers is beyond me. Perhaps Gazzyboy was taking his usual dose of Gazzycrack at the time, as he does while naming items in many, many other games.

This is not a complete list of everything that's wrong, wrong, wrong with Gazzyboy games, but you get the idea.

Now it's your turn! Add a comment explaining all of the things you hate about Gazzyboy games. It's cathartic and healing to let it all out!

Tunnel Escape

Gazzyboy Tunnel Escape
(uploaded to EG 19 Feb 2010)

Why Users Hate It:

bea: can't click anything...
Carib Beano: I can't seem to do anything not finding anything or able to navigate either
sagittarianshiraz: I can not get out of this #$%^^$ hole now!!
gabi: the navigation of this game makes me crazy
EnJoy: That was one of the worst games I have ever played. Navigation was a nightmare!
DMLR: This game pretty much sucks.. Bad graphics.. Not the correct item descriptions, and its a pixelhunt most of the time.. There's no puzzles what so ever, just a long time of hide'n'seek with items..
Escaped but I wasn't even happy.. Its not a drilling machine, its some kind of electric saw.. Or, its used as one..
And why isn't the pickaxe good enough for smashing a lock? We need a stick to do that..
Sorry.. Its just me nagging, but it could have been a lot better..
iwnbb: WHAT GARBAGE THIS GAME IS!!!! Had to Reload twice just to get it to work at all and only managed to be both annoyed and bored but not get anywhere. Another tedious pixel hunt. What a waste of space. Gazzy has been getting better but with this one they took 10 steps backwards.

WALKTHROUGH
(thanks @DMLR)
Walkthrough:

1:Move forward and to the left so you have the gate and machine in sigt. Grab red "brick" by the ceiling (flat piece of iron).

2:Press near second pillar to the left and get shovel.

3:Move forward closer to the machine and gate and click the rock to the bottom right on the floor, and take the screwdriver. Click near right edge of the screen (middle section) and get a wire.

4:Click the rock in your inventory and then use the flat iron piece with it, to get sharpened iron piece.

5:Move one step closer to the gate and click the rectangular spot with the two dots on the left side of the gate. Use screwdriver and the screws and get the drill bit.

6:Move 2 steps back and go left, then one step forward. Take the pickaxe (big axe as someone describes it).

7:At the upper right corner, theres a little thingy hanging, click it and you get a bulb adaptor.

8:Move back 4 steps and go right (click black stripe on the right wall) and then one forward to the red canisters. Press the top canister and you get a fuel jug.

9:Click the dead end wall and use the pickaxe on it. Get the rope.

10:Move 1 step back, and then right (again a black "stripe" on the wall.) 1 step forward and get the diesel tank.

11:Click left side of the screen middle section and get a second wire. Drag the adaptor to the upper wire in your inventory. They should stick together.

Author: Now I trust you to have learned to navigate by yourself, so I won't try to explain how to anymore :)

12:2 steps back and click the floor halfway up the tunnel. Use pickaxe and then the shovel to get the hole digger.

13:Move 4 steps back to the yellow containers and click them for a close-up. Use the iron piece on the left container, then the fuel jug.

14:Move right and click the upper part of the first light bulb and you find a drilling machine hanging in some rope. Cut the ropes with the iron piece and get the drilling machine.

NOTE: Do NOT swap 13 and 14 to save time.. You loose your iron piece after cutting down the drilling machine.

15:Combine drill bit with drilling machine.

16:2 steps back, left and 3 steps forward. Use the hole digger on the lock and chain to smash it open.

17:Move forward to the machine and place the diesel engine on the flat area over the red button. (it may take several tries if not done correctly)

18:Pour the fuel from the fuel jug into the diesel engine and click the cabel in the lower left corner of the screen.

19:Use the rope with the wheel on the left side and the machine starts.

20:Move 3 steps back, go right and move forward to the brick wall. Click the light bulb and then use the wire with bulb adaptor on the bulb attachment.

21:Drag the drilling machine to the end of the wire (left side of screen) and use it with the wire. You are now cutting a hole in the brick wall.

22:Enter the new tunnel and click the lower right side of the floor to zoom in like when you found the hole digger. Use the pickaxe and the shovel again, and then the hole digger to smash the suitcase open. Get the welding jack.

23:Move forward to the door and use the hole digger on the light bulb. Use your last piece of wire with the welding jack and then use it on the tube at the bottom of the blue box.

Congratulations.. You have now wasted approximately 7-20 minutes of your life on this game. Feel sad about me for doing this, but also feel joy because someone made you this walkthrough.

If you'd like to tell us about your own experience playing this game or otherwise rant about how bad Gazzyboy games are, feel free to leave comments!
